CFIQ Committee Descriptions


Governance Committee

Made up exclusively of members of the Board of Governors, this committee ensures that the composition of – and rules of eligibility for membership in – the Board of Governors and committees are aligned with the delivery of the strategic plan; it also reviews the role and mandate of the committees and ensures that administrative processes are enhanced and standardized, to provide strong communication between the CFIQ and the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC), as well as between the CFIQ and its membership.

Regulatory Watch Committee

This committee is responsible for analyzing federal and provincial legislative activity, as well as regulatory issues of interest to the investment funds industry and investors alike. Its role is to advise the CFIQ and IFIC boards on any issue likely to influence the compliance and regulatory requirements of members and to prepare relevant submissions and proposals.

Compliance Committee

This committee is responsible for analyzing various matters and for making recommendations to improve current and future compliance and regulatory practices. It makes it possible for compliance officers to share common concerns and to discuss standard industry practices, to interact with regulatory organizations and to work along with the CFIQ’s Regulatory Watch Committee and Operations Committee on joint initiatives.

Operations Committee

This committee is responsible for following up on operational and administrative matters for the investment funds industry in Quebec and for keeping the other committees and, as required, the CFIQ Board of Governors advised. It cooperates with the CFIQ’s Regulatory Watch Committee and Compliance Committee on issues whose operational and administrative impact may extend to mutual fund legislation, regulations and compliance.

Communications Committee

This committee is responsible for promoting the interests and mission of the CFIQ with its members and other industry stakeholders. As such, it develops educational and networking activities designed to enhance the CFIQ brand and raise the organization’s profile among its members and other industry stakeholders. The Committee also ensures that any information shared by the various CFIQ committees and likely to have an impact on the industry is distributed to members, and it is involved in any initiatives requiring a communications strategy.
