Joanne De Laurentiis
President & CEO of The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC)
Joanne De Laurentiis was appointed President & CEO of The Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) on January 9, 2006. IFIC is a trade association serving the Canadian mutual fund industry, which currently has about $700 billion in assets under management.
Joanne’s career has focused on managing and guiding multi-stakeholder financial services organizations including Credit Union Central of Canada (2001-2005) the national organization for Canada’s credit union system outside Quebec; Mondex Canada (1998-2001) a joint venture of Canada’s largest deposit taking institutions testing a stored value application on a smart card; and the Interac Association (1994-1998), Canada’s national debit card payment network.
Before joining Interac, she served as Vice President, Public Affairs for the Canadian Bankers Association (1985-1994) and as chief of staff to a Minister in the Government of Ontario (1978-1985). Joanne is a member of the University of Western Ontario Board and Chair of the Southdown Institute. She has served on several financial services industry Boards including: Chair of the Board of Directors for The Ethical Funds Company; a member of the Board of Directors for Concentra Financial Services, the Canadian Payments Association, The Interac Association and The Cumis Group
She has also served on several government agencies including: as a panel member on the Federal Human Rights Tribunal, and the Board of the Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation. She holds a Masters Degree in Political Science from the University of Western Ontario.
